Personal privacy protection has recently become an important issue in European Union and in other democratic countries.
Privacy protection and tightly-related personal data protection are currently regulated by EU directives as well as by national legislation valid in individual member countries. Apart from EU countries, there is an interesting comparison with valid standards used in other developed countries, such as the United States or Canada.
